TIRANA, ALBANIA - LONDON, UK, 11th May, 2026 - Nicolas De Santis, President of Gold Mercury International, met with Prime Minister Edi Rama of Albania during the opening sessions of the World Law Foundation's World Law Congress, which is set to take place in Tirana in 2027. The meeting brought together two prominent voices in international affairs and governance for a wide-ranging conversation at a pivotal moment for Europe and the world.

The encounter took place against the backdrop of a landmark cultural and legal gathering — the forthcoming World Law Congress, to be hosted in Albania under the auspices of the World Law Foundation (WLF), a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting the Rule of Law as a cornerstone of freedom and peace, and on whose Board of Trustees Nicolas De Santis serves. Albania’s selection as host marks a significant recognition of the country’s growing role on the international stage.

THE FUTURE OF ALBANIA IN EUROPEAN AFFAIRS

During the meeting, De Santis and Prime Minister Rama engaged in substantive dialogue on the current state of international affairs, examining the complex geopolitical dynamics reshaping the global order. Central to their conversation was Albania’s future role in Europe — a nation whose EU accession journey and strategic position in the Western Balkans place it at the heart of European integration and regional stability. The two also discussed the future of global governance, exploring how institutions, legal frameworks, and multilateral cooperation must evolve to meet the demands of an increasingly fragmented world. The conversation reflected a shared commitment to principled, rule-based international engagement.

Albania stands at a remarkable crossroads of history and opportunity. Our meeting with Prime Minister Rama reaffirmed that strong leadership, anchored in the Rule of Law and genuine commitment to European values, is essential not only for Albania’s future but for the stability and integrity of the international order itself.

For Gold Mercury International, the Tirana meeting is a further demonstration of the organisation's commitment to engaging directly with governments and leadership at the highest levels on questions of geopolitics, strategy, and governance. Founded on the belief that nations and institutions must think strategically about their global role, Gold Mercury continues to participate in conversations shaping the contours of a new international landscape.
